Gearing Up for Stampede 2008!

After one of our most successful Stampedes, our committee is already hard at work preparing for Stampede 2008!

With attendance at our Competition for Marching Show Bands hitting an attendance record, and 21 bands performing in the Stampede Parade to 250,000 spectators -- including Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper -- it's going to be difficult to improve on Stampede 2007. We think we can do it!

Updated Application Form

The first step in our updated application process is now in place with the posting of the downloadable application form for Stampede 2008. Bands wishing to make an early application to attend Stampede 2008 (or 2009, 2010) are encouraged to download the PDF application form and fax a copy back to our committee to lock in your spot.

We are working on our online application form, and will add a link to the website once it is ready for bands to use.

2008 Directors' Manual

Revisions to our Directors' Manual are already underway for 2008. We are planning to release this to registered bands in late December, so if you've already registered, please keep an eye on your mailbox at that time. We will also be releasing a completely searchable PDF version to our website as soon as it is completed.

In the mean time, please feel free to examine the Directors' Manual from 2007. This will give you a good guide of what to your band can expect in Calgary, including information on the Calgary Stampede Parade.

Stampede 2007 Fades Into the Sunset

We would like to thank the many, many volunteers and staff at the Calgary Stampede, and especially the marching bands and their support staff who participated in Stampede 2007!

As the numbers start to come in, Stampede 2007 appears to have been one of our most successful Stampedes ever! This year saw 27 marching bands from Canada; the United States and even Australia participate in the Stampede Parade, our show band competition and countless performances on and around Stampede Park.

Competition for Marching Show Bands 2007

Attendance at our Competition for Marching Show Bands topped out at near-record levels, with Stampede-goers coming to see 11 bands competing for over $12,000 in prizes and awards. We are happy to announce that Sound of Sun Prairie from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin received the top score and Award of Excellence for 2007!

This year's Calgary Stampede Parade had 21 bands performing for the estimated 250,000 spectators who lined Calgary's packed downtown core, including Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. While the competition was stiff, Calgary's own Bishop Grandin High School Marching Ghosts marched away with Best Canadian and Best Overall Band in the parade.
